But that's hardly enough information, so...
Satsuki was born to Ragyo and Soichiro Kiryuin, and is heiress to the Kiruyin Conglomerate and the Revocs textile company. Her father was a genius who basically won his way into Ragyo's family with his mind and ability, while her mother... Well, in short her mother was acting on behalf of an alien organism known as Life Fibers. Clothing on this Earth exists because of the Life Fibers, and they made humans that which they are... though in the end, what we are intended to be in the end is effectively sources of power and food for the Life Fibers themselves.
Ragyo sought to pursue this, and to that end attempted to infuse her first born daughter - Satsuki - with Life Fibers, a process which failed because she was too old at one year. But that was fine! Because Ragyo had another baby on the way, and she was hooked up to machines with Life Fibers being fed into her practically straight out of the womb. But... the process seemed to not take, and Ragyo pretty much chucked the baby down a garbage chute. This was the last straw for Satsuki's father, and at five years old she was shown that which would be her "wedding dress," according to her father - a Kamui, a dress made completely of Life Fibers. She was also informed of her mother's intentions, and upon her father's mysteriously timed death soon after was thus entrusted with carrying out a mission. That mission: avenge her dead sister who never even received a name, her father, and save the world from her mother.
Of course, she was only a child then and this could not be done immediately. She was patient, building her skills and her power base throughout her school years. She recruited the strongest of allies she could find throughout those years, forming a quartet that would become known as her "Elite Four" when she entered High School at Honnouji Academy.
At Honnouji, she basically... took over the place when instated as Studen Council President. She came to rule the school with an iron fist, instituting a brutal "survival of the fittest" regime upon its students and effectively turning the surrounding city into all but a slum. The social standing of the students' families depended upon their own strengths shown at the Academy, and those strengths were hardly academic.
Satsuki was building an army. To the strong in that army, she distributed "Goku Uniforms" made partially of Life Fibers which imbued superhuman powers upon their users.
Then, a little upstart with half a "Scissor Blade" named Ryuko Matoi appeared, seeking information on the death of her father. Satsuki knew the truth of this - Matoi's father had died at the hands of Nui Harime, an agent of her mother's. However, she withholds this information. Ryuko is clearly strong, stronger still when she reappears after a defeat with a Kamui of her own named "Senketsu." So... Satsuki tests her. She holds the information regarding Dr. Matoi's death over Ryuko's head to galvanize her and push her.
Satsuki dons her own Kamui and engages in battle with Ryuko head on, bringing forth yet more power in Senketsu in the process. She poses a challenge to Ryuko that effectively sets every student in the school against her, and only when Ryuko has bested them will she meet her in battle again, and ONLY THEN will she reveals what she knows about the other girl's father.
Best them Ryuko does, until she's faced with a running gauntlet of having to fight all of Satsuki's Elite Four one right after another. Still, she continues to win, continues to grow stronger, and is one battle away from facing down Satsuki once more... until Nui Harime interferes. She reveals her killing of Ryuko's father, setting Ryuko off into a rage that unleashes a berserk form of Senketsu. Satsuki takes to the battlefield again at this prompting, and very well would have - she certainly could have - kills the rampaging monster Ryuko has become until Mako Mankanshouku - a friend of Ryuko's - is able to get through to her.
The next step in Satsuki's plan proceeds regardless of Nui's interference, which involves taking her dominance to surrounding schools and the Anti-Life Fiber guerrilla group, "Nudsit Beach." Around the same time, Nui shreds Senketsu off of Ryuko, which Satsuki is able to come into possession of... and then distributes it to all her students setting forth to do battle with the surrounding academies. While Ryuko regains those scraps and reforms Senketsu in short order, Satsuki's victory is pretty absolute. In spite of her words coming across like a despotic villain, her actual intent is both to strengthen her forces and test those of these other groups.
If they're weak enough to be defeated by Satsuki's forces? Then they have no use to her in opposing Ragyo and the Life Fibers.
This seemingly was prepared to come to a head at an organized school festival wherein Ragyo was going to unleash the power of the Original Life Fiber that fell to Earth centuries ago to basically gobble up all the attendees and start ushering in the apocalypse. Satsuki and the whole of Honnouji Academy's forces reveal their long planned treachery and Satsuki takes her mother's head... which is promptly re-attached to her body, as it the Life Fibers infused into HER body prevent her from being dispatched quite so readily.
Satsuki is beaten within an inch of her life and has Junketsu taken from her by her mother, and it's soon revealed that the younger sister Satsuki long thought was dead? That's Ryuko, and she has Life Fibers running through her body as well. SURPRISE!
Satsuki is then locked in a dungeon beneath Honnouji as Ryuko loses her way and pushes away all her allies. Satsuki, of course... manages to free herself, because she's Satsuki, and rejoins the Elite Four who have joined forces with Nudist Beach. This is just in time, as Ryuko now has been brainwashed by Ragyo and forced to don Junketsu. To counter this, Satsuki uses Senketsu and battles her sister one last time.
Satsuki doesn't win handily, however - and in fact only survives with the help of her allies both old and new. Mako and Senketsu eventually bring Ryuko back to herself, which is also just in time as they get faced with Nui once more. Luckily, Ryuko cuts her arms off! After a retreat, planning ensues, Junketsu is retrofitted into a more cooperative and powerful form, and the sisters take off to kill the hell out of their mother while everyone else battles Life Fiber forces.
In the end everyone comes together to destroy the Original Life Fiber, and then do battle with Ragyo and Nui directly. In the end, Nui fuses into Ragyo, while everyone grants the power of their uniforms to Ryuko and Senketsu. Ryuko - of course - wins, and while Senketsu dies, Satsuki and everyone both she and Ryuko had come to call friends or allies manages to save Ryuko from plummeting to her death from orbit.
With Ragyo dead, and the Life Fibers seemingly wiped from the Earth... it's happily ever after, for the most part, as Satsuki goes on to finally at long last have family she can actually care about.
AU History: Satsuki, in not-so-suspicious similarity to someone else was born to a family of nobles within Sanctuary, ones who - particularly her mother - were supportive and assisted in the Gigas occupation of her nation. Though similar attempts were made as a baby to infuse her with certain abilities, they never took, but unlike her little sister she survived - or at least, that was as far as she was lead to believe.
As a young girl, Satsuki grew up admiring and loving her father - but in the time following her baby sister's "passing," he seeded knowledge of her mother's ambitions, and doubt in her. Something that wasn't exactly hard - because it wasn't long before her father, too, mysteriously died and even at a young age, it didn't take long for Satsuki to suspect her mother's involvement.
Always under her mother's keen eye, Satsuki could only become the seemingly dutiful follower the woman wanted. But that was only on the outside - for many years, she harbored thoughts of rebellion. Learning to become a warrior for the sake of taking her down, and hopefully the rest of the system around her would follow. She took her time, gathering others whom she could trust. The time came when Gigas' occupation was driven out of Sanctuary, and so too did Satsuki's mother.
It came at a cost, of course. As her family had supported Gigas, and Satsuki's own actions being questionable (if understandable) any standing of the Kiryuin family, their wealth or influence, vanished along with the occupation.
For Satsuki, that was fine. But before she became but a pitiable commoner, she was able to salvage some belongings from her family - primarily, research notes and considerable information on the experiments that were attempted many years ago by the Kiryuins. Soon after, as well, she received a letter: One that was an almost exact copy of what Ryuko Matoi would have been getting around the same time.
Information in hand, and little else, Satsuki knew what her next step would be, and began to make her way towards Union.
Canon Personality: Above all things, Satsuki Kiryuin is proud. Not proud of her heritage, not proud of where her name comes from. She is proud of herself. For the strength she has managed to obtain, the loyalties she has managed to forge, she has done so under her own will and strengths. Certainly, the money and influence of the Kiryuin family did not hurt matters. She very well may not have gotten as fas as she did without it. But what is important is not that she is a Kiryuin - what is important is that she is Satsuki Kiryuin, and if you question her in any way, shape, or form you are going to find out first hand just what that means.
Satsuki often presents herself as stoic and aloof, holding herself with a typically unflappable calmness. I say "presents" as if this is a facade, but... while there is definitely something hidden beneath the surface, these things are all most certainly true of her. She has forged herself into a human being that can withstand almost anything, be it the physical pain of battle or even donning her Junketsu, or the emotional pain of dealing with someone almost unspeakably vile like Ragyo for a mother. Very rarely is that particular armor cracked. Satsuki is almost always in control of most situations at hand, no matter how dire, and her own fate right until the bitter end. She scarcely flinches if you decide to attack her, typically because she already knows for a fact that in most instances, the odds of you being someone that can defeat her are exceedingly slim. She does get very loud, and very passionate as well, but... we'll get to that.
She views her actions - regardless of what anyone may think of her - as "pure." In the end, we find out this is most assuredly true. She spent her entire life building up an army, creating loyal followers, all for what could well have amounted to a suicide mission to kill her mother. For all she seemed to lord her superiority over everyone, she did it all with the intention of saving everything and staking her life and the lives of those loyal to her on the gamble. She's able to master wearing her Junketsu before Ryuko is Senketsu because of her belief in the purity of her actions - the certainty and clarity that she was doing that which only she could do, and that she needed to do. With that, she lacks any shame for her actions and that which she does. Even if she has to get mostly naked to do it, hence mastering her Kamui so early.
However, yes - that superiority. It's important because regardless of altrusitic intentions, she's pretty arrogant. It's not a facade, not in any way a mask for something else. She really is just that cocky. It's not without reason - far, far from it. Satsuki has abiilty and intelligence to spare, and somehow manages to give off a certain level of charisma that people around her flock to in spite of her usual super serious demeanor. Perhaps it's the confidence of her actions, but either way - Satsuki can come off pretty egotsitical at a glance. She can also back it up. So even if most people think that of her, they're not likely to voice it unless they're Ryuko Matoi.
She respects power and ambition in a person, in spite of appearances. If someone is strong enough to make their intentions and presence known, she is more likely than not to pay you heed. After all, this is the whole reason she sparked combat between other schools, within her own school, Nudist Beach, and Ryuko in the first place - to test them. Strengthen them if they survived. Only those strongest could stand against Ragyo, the COVERS, and the Life Fiber menace in general. If Satsuki alone could defeat them, then they'd never stand a chance against those other enemies.
In spite of her calmness, Satsuki can show quite a lot of passion in short order. Those with that aforementioned strength can spark that in her, as does confrontation and battle, or DRAMATIC SPEECHES be it to her troops or her sworn enemy. Actually, she has a thing for the dramatic in general - as if things like her entire elaborate scheme to overthrow her mother, or the giant retractable staircase at Honnouji Academy weren't tip offs to this. She can and will get very loud, and very angry given the right prompting. Generally the prompting for the anger is someone like her mother, but murderous interfering psychopaths like Nui can also fit that bill quite well. When angry, her wrath is a scary thing and hardly something you want to be caught in the path of.
Satsuki does care, however cold she may come across to most. Her entire goals are born of caring about what the hell happens to this planet, but that's an easy one. After all, she lives here too. But for people - well, there weren't many of those for awhile. Nonon was the only one for a long time, her friend since childhood - and as she grew, the other Elite Four followed in short order. She knows the loyalty of her subordinates is unquestionable, and she does care for their well being even as much as they might be witness to her harshness. Were this not the case, she wouldn't have given Sanageyama his second chance, or stopped Gamagoori from killing himself upon his loss to Ryuko.
What she lacked to care about any however, was blood. Her father had been long thought dead, as had her little sister. Of course, she would learn both were not true, at least until Nui got hold of the former. Her relationship with Ryuko changes dramatically over the course of the story, at first seeing her as a challenge, then something worth testing. Then she discovered the truth, and in spite of all their fights, began to care about her well being as well. She fought her sister with the intent of saving her sister, and in short order afterwards began to accept Ryuko as her sister. So Satsuki most definitely does care about people, and in fact probably cares about a lot of people a great deal more than you would ever think to look at her.
In the end, she is most often calm and in control of her emotions, but completely, yet rightfully convinced of her own ability and power. In spite of that calmness, she is very passionate about that which she cares about, and believe it or not - there's actually quite a lot of that.
AU Deviation: Satsuki has a few phases to her characterization in canon, and that holds true here as well - but they may be just a little less extreme, but setting necessity. This Satsuki obviously never would have been quite as "in charge" of things as her canon self was - she was never ruling a whole city from her seat on the student council, or anything as silly as that. She was being raised to be an honest to goodness soldier, and probably a disposable one at that, something she'd be acutely aware of.
So while she may be prone to boisterous proclamations, as any Satsuki should, her expectations are tempered by experience. While she may have rallied some to her cause, she certainly wouldn't have the experience of having rallied all. So we have a Satsuki who is perhaps even more cautious, in some ways. She's willing to take risks, but she'll consider and scrutinize her options a lot harder because to start with, she has little but herself to fall back on. (Even if there is room within her backstory for canon mates if they ever so choose to apply and want to be linked there.) Having only that to rely on, she'll be a lot more careful for awhile about who she implicitly trusts.
As well, towards the end of her canon, Satsuki is shown to be much more warm and caring. All things that are still true for her, but the outlet for pulling them forth - her defeat, the revelation of Ryuko's heritage, her capture, escape, and reforming her forces - never really happened. So while that warmth is likely to surface, it hasn't been given all the reasons to yet, and as such she much more straddles a line between her hardass early self and her more open later self. She cares, but there is a much harder edge to it - for now.
Canon Abilities: Physical Condition and Swordsmanship - Before any powers granted to her by Junketsu, Satsuki's physical condition, speed, and strength can easily be judged nearly superhuman in its own right. Additionally, she is an incredibly skilled swordsman. With all of these things combined, she's a very notable warrior before even donning her Kamui, capable of fighting and surviving against superhuman threats with only her sword to guide her. Simply clashing swords with an underpowered Ryuko ended up bringing incredible devastation to everything behind Ryuko. She's been shown quick enough to cut something before her opponent has time to retaliate or even realize it, and has straight up created whirlwinds with the flick of her blade. Satsuki is very, very dangerous on her own - which is why we're going to pile even more onto it.
Secret Sword Bakuzan - Satsuki's personal weapon. A strong katana that is her ever constant companion in battle. She claims it to be even sharper than Ryuko Matoi's Scissor Blade and it is capable of cutting pure Life Fibers. So, basically: it can cut Senketsu and Junketsu. However, unlike the Scissor Blade, Bakuzan does not cut Life Fibers at the same angle (a necessity in order to severe them completely and prevent the regeneration that they can cause) and thus is not quite as capable of dispatching certain Life Fiber-powered enemies and in the end.
Bakuzan is broken eventually by Satsuki's mother. This is fine, because Satsuki's Four end up recovering the two pieces and reforge them into Bakuzan Gako and Bakuzan Kouryu. This provides an added bonus rather than any sort of handicap: As two swords, the Bakuzans are able to mimic the Scissor Blade's ability to severe Life Fiber threads from their hosts.
Willpower - Satsuki's willpower is almost a force in its own right. Beyond just her charming personality, it's this willpower that makes her the only "normal" human capable of wearing 100% pure Life Fiber uniforms like Junketsu and Senketsu, where Ryuko and Ragyo can do it because they are infused with Life Fibers.
Kamui - A Kamui is a uniform made completely out of Life Fibers which can grant incredible power to their user. However, they are also very dangerous, as they are born from something with the instinctive desire to devour the life around them. In fact, they require a human's blood to awaken from dormancy in the first place. This is a razor's edge to walk for power, but it is one Satsuki walks well - because she is able to wield not just one, but two Kamuis.
Junketsu - Presented to her at a young age by her father, Junketsu is Satsuki's primary means of engaging in battle throughout the series. It is, to put it simply, a monster - it appears to have no wants or needs beyond its base instincts as a Life Fiber entity. Indeed, it is bloodthirsty - which is probably why it needs to drink more blood to transform than Ryuko's Senketsu. Once she is transformed, Satsuki gains a great amount of power, however. Her strength, speed, and durability are increased to truly superhuman levels. It can magnify her aforementioned willpower into actual, destructive force around her - as well as pure energy, capable of generating auras of force around her or flinging blades of power from her sword. Her shoulder armor has little used thrusters, and she is capable of morphing Junketsu's transformed armor into other forms - such as creating a grappling anchor out of one shoulder, or turning another one into a drill. Later, when Junketsu is modified it adopts forms from Senketsu - Junketsu Senpu, a form that creates armor around her legs for thrusters to enable flight, and Junketsu Senpu Zenkan a form in which blades sprout all over her armor while in her flying form. It can be presumed then that there could likely be a "Junketsu Zenkan" standalone form that is just the blades, and will be treated as such when the time comes. As an entity that changes its form at will and a Life Fiber creature, Junketsu is also capable of a certain amount of regeneration when damaged.
Senketsu - Although not hers I will note her ability to wear Ryuko's Kamui as well. All of Senketsu's abilities are comparable to Junketsu's, the key difference being that Senketsu has an intelligent will of his own. However, it is one that Satsuki cannot communicate with, at least until the end of the series, and thus she reacts slower than with Junketsu or Ryuko with Senketsu due to her need to shout orders at him to preform attacks. Although as Senketsu gains the ability to communicate with others besides Ryuko at series' end, should this ever be something that materializes in-game it could change how well or not that would work. Similarly, Senketsu has multiple forms: Besides the base form, there is Senketsu Senjin, his bladed form, and Senketsu Shippu, his flying form. Interestingly, it is Satsuki who originates the combined form of these, Senjin Shippu. [Again, aware that Senketsu is fully in control of another player, but upon discussions with said player it seemed prudent in an abilities rundown to cover the fact that she is capable of wielding Senketsu to some degree.]
Kamuis have a danger of turning their partner into a monster and running berserk should that user lose control of themselves and their will. In canon, this only happens to Ryuko, and she is transformed into a hulking, rampaging beast. Given the way things are displayed with Junketsu in the series, it could be assumed a similar fate could befall Satsuki should she have ever lost control of Junketsu.
Also, Satsuki has the ability to cast a sudden, glowing radiance upon her entry to the scene at any and all times. Effectively, she comes with her own sudden Michael Bay lighting.
Enlightened Abilities: Satsuki, while unable to take the genetic modifications her mother sought, did awaken as an Enlightened in time. Specifically, she is a Steel/Fighting type with a Mastery of Battle.
At her very core Satsuki is a trained fighter, skilled primarily with the use of a blade. Her primary weapon, a black blade called "Bakuzan," is specially forged and incredibly sharp, itself containing a Steel typing. That training and years of hard work allows her to overcome the inherent slowness of her own Steel typing, which serves to make her all the more deadly. Her developed abilities and evolutions over time are subtle to some degree, reinforcing her fighting skill over most other things.
At her base state, she's faster, stronger, and more durable than your basic human. Her primary means of attack in this form comes down to her fighting skill more than anything else.
At her first evolution, her durability rises, her speed and agility rise above that of peak human capability. Her strength spikes as well, able to break rocks or dent armor, while she gains the ability to unleash vacuum blades through the air.
At her second evolution her speed and strength rise further. Her skin becomes unbreakable to the point that steel would be, and able to focus her power into a blade strike that can unleash a burst of energy towards her opponent.
Starter Pokémon: A Honedge that she has dubbed "Junketsu." The strong, silent type unless it's been in battle too long, at which point he can kind of ... get a little overzealous or just downright nuts.
Notes/Special Considerations: I had already contacted the mods with regards to her background and its connections, so hopefully everything there checks out~
SAMPLES
(NOTE: You may link a previous entry or thread, including testrun or musebox threads (but NOT Dear Mun), for one or both samples. However, we want to see the character in the setting of Brave New World and specifically in their AU for at least one sample.)
First-Person: (Also known as “commentspam.” This is from the character’s perspective and helps us determine how well you grasp your character’s voice. The minimum is six sentences. If we deem that there is not enough spoken or written dialogue, we will ask you for more. If you link an outside entry or thread, the minimum is 10 comments from your character in one thread/with one character.)
Third-Person: (This is written in prose from an independent narrator’s perspective. Here we want to see an insight into your character’s unspoken behavior -- actions, thoughts, their view of their world, etc. The minimum here is two paragraphs. If we do not get a good sense of your character’s behavior, we will ask for more. If you link an outside entry or thread, the minimum is 20 comments from your character in two threads/with two characters.)
If desired, you may answer some of the following questions in lieu of samples. The questions must be answered in-character, as if they are being asked by a teacher, mentor, or superior. If your character is lying in their answer, please identify it as a lie. The purpose of these is to get an idea of how you will play your character in lieu of the other sample options. 4 questions answered can be used as a substitute for a first-person sample, and 6 questions answered can be used as a substitute for a third-person sample. Both samples may be replaced in this manner. If the character doesn't say enough in their answer, we may request a few more answers for an acceptable sample.
